MY 1 YEAR WORDPRESS ANIVERSARY!

MY 1 YEAR WORDPRESS ANIVERSARY!

I am so grateful for the success of my blogging so far- it’s been a great year! I hope I can always improve my blogging skills and remain a part of the Broadway community in some way! My dream, like many a theatre kid, is to be on Broadway myself one day (but, until that happens) I can keep myself and everyone updated on everything theatre! Thank you all for supporting my dreams!

Lea Michele plans Broadway Return in ‘Funny Girl’

I’ve heard a lot about this an if it does happen NO DOUBT I would be psyched out of my mind! I love love LOVE Lea and Funny Girl. She’s just the greatest star…and well everyone knows it! Very intrested to see what might happen!

Top Tweets about the Sound Music Live

Bless me, Audra McDonald, for I have cringed. It’s been four days since I watched NBC’s The Sound of Music Live, and I’m not exactly sure whether to repent or not. On the one hand, I wasted three hours of my life MESMERIZED by the EXTRAORDINARY AWFULNESS of this eye-roll-a-minute disaster master. We here at LMezz had high hopes for this show and were able to give Carrie Underwood the benefit of the doubt. Then these hopes were dashed upon the jagged rocks, located at the bottom of WTF Mountain and next to Bad Choices Valley.

On the other hand, if I hadn’t watched this hot mess, I wouldn’t have been able to understand these awesome tweets below!

‘Kinky Boots’ Performers Have Amazing Response To Macy’s Day Parade Outrage

The Pink Triangle Cafe

Sometimes people do things that leave me speechless. This is one of them. I am utterly outraged, but thoughts aren’t easily coming together.

I will say this: if you cannot get to New York to see the musical, borrow the movie. It’s on Netflix. It’s fabulous, but without all of the AMAZING music of Cindy Lauper. And it’s based on a true story.

Homophobia reared its ugly head in response to the supposedly cheerful Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, as some Americans took to social media to criticize the performance of “Kinky Boots,” an award-winning Broadway musical about a shoe factory owner and a drag queen who work together to turn the family business around. The way the performers responded to the controversy, however, was priceless.

Despite the show’s wholesome themes of cooperation, tolerance and friendship, Twitter and Facebook quickly lit up with Americans decrying the performance of…

CATS

Will “Cats” be the next big musical on the big screen?

As many of us theatre kids know- Cats is already a very popular musical, and even people who don’t know the musical can easily belt “Memory” off the top of their heads. When I saw this post on Broadway.com I knew I HAD to comment on it. This is very intresting to me because I’m currently in a production of Cats. But I just don’t know if the average audience member would appreciate Cats as much as the next theatre kid would. If you are familiar with Cats– you know that its is very different from anything you’ve ever seen because there is no plot at all- just random stories about random cats…do you think audiences are ready for that on the big screen? On the other hand- the most recent movie- musical phenomenon was Les Miserables which was very popular with theatre kids- and non theatre kids as well- and maybe that’s just because Les Mis is flawless and Aaron Teviet and Eddie Redmayne are just adorable…

Well, what do you think? Will Cats sell in movie theatres”? Are you excited for it?

SIDE NOTE: The next movie musical is Into the Woods which Disney is producing and I’m absolutely so excited…I think theatres making a popular comeback tbh and I couldn’t be happier (“simply couldn’t be happier….”) haha!

Live from Lincoln Center — Kristin Chenoweth

The other day I was studying with a group of friends… you know, “studying” and we were talking about various stars and films. Somehow, Kristin Chenoweth become a hot button issue.

“I… don’t… like her,” one of my friends growled.

I felt a sadness wash over my body, “B-b-but, why?”

“She annoyed me so much at the Oscars. I cannot stand her.”

Now, as we all know, every person has their downfalls. Kristin Chenoweth may have been a tinge over-the-top and exuberant on the Red Carpet. At least she didn’t shave her head! Or jump on a couch! Or throw a phone at hotel employees! Or hang a baby over the side of a balcony! She was just excited.

“No, no. You need to watch Pushing Daisies or listen to the Wicked soundtrack. She’s outstanding and talented.”

“I’ve never seen anything she’s in,” said the Cheno-hater.

My other friend jumped…
